Chief Neal Lartigue of the Ville Platte Police Department has announced his department is actively searching for an inmate who escaped from police custody.
In a statement, Chief Lartigue stated, “On Monday, October 15, at approximately 11:00 p.m., an Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office inmate being housed at the Ville Platte Police Department as a trustee exited the police department through the lobby and failed to return.
Chief Lartigue requests that anyone with any information regarding Jahmal Rashad Byers, 34, whose last known address is 238 Roderick Street, Ville Platte, to please contact the Ville Platte Police Department.”
