V.P. man arrested for stealing a side by side from his employer

An employee of the Ville Platte Evangeline Recreational Complex was arrested recently for stealing from his employer.
Justin Johnson was arrested on March 1, 2018 after he confessed to officers with the Ville Platte Police Department that he had stolen a side by side that was property of the recreational complex.
Through his confession, officers learned that Johnson had sold the side by side to an individual.
According to Evangeline Parish District Attorney Trent Brignac, the side by side was “recovered from the person he (Johnson) sold it to.”
Upon recovery, the individual who had purchased the side by side also confirmed that he had purchased it from Johnson.
Johnson was booked in the city jail on the charge of felony theft over $500.00, and then was transferred to the parish jail.
Since his arrest, Johnson has been released from jail on a $20,000.00 bond that was set by 13th Judicial District Judge Chuck West
