Ville Platte High hosts Awards Night for seniors

The graduating seniors from Ville Platte High School were honored last Thursday evening for their academic achievements during an Awards Night Ceremony that was held at the Ville Platte Civic Center.
While most of the honorees were seniors, two of the students, who were presented awards, were underclassmen who maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout the school year. They were Aneeta Jolly and Caliah Guillory.
The seniors were then presented with their awards.
The honor students were as follows: Ciera LaFleur with a GPA of 3.5625, Peyton Vidrine with a GPA of 3.6667, Class Historian Morgan McDaniel with a GPA of 3.7188, Class Salutatorian Logan Guillory with a GPA of 3.8361, and Class Valedictorian Jada Wilson with a GPA of 4.0938. Wilson, the student of the year, was also presented a $1 thousand scholarship from First Student.
Academic Excellence awards were presented to the students who had the highest averages in various disciplines of study. These awards were given to the following: AG II- Morgan McDaniel, Dual Enrollment Welding- Brendan Doucet, LET IV JROTC- Jada Wilson, Business English and Financial Math- Saysiana Gallow, Speech II- Tayvon Wilson, English IV- Whitney Ledoux, Chemistry II- Keowanee Soileau, Principals of Business- Victoria Manuel, and Math Essentials- Tamra Seraile.
Diana Johnson’s JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) received cords for completing the program. They were Vonteeko Anderson, John Bordelon, Brittany Bradshaw, Dashia Frank, Alex Fontenot, Maci Lee, Tryia Lonnett, Tamra Seriale, Tareek Seriale, Gwantez Thomas, Adam Veillon, and Rene Williams.
First Sergeant Jesse Fontenot presented certificates to his students who completed JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps). The students were Dantony Anderson, Makayla Ardoin, Morgan Arnold, Alaijah Doucet, Jaishaun Doucet, Sophie Fontenot, Brittany Gallow, Brianna Godeaux, La’Jaia Leday, Michelle Leday, Tareek Seriale, Christopher Weaver, Jada Wilson, and Roeisha Wilson. Two of the seniors also enlisted into the Louisiana Army National Guard and were presented cords. They were Cody Fontenot and Sarah Guillory.
Receiving the 4-H Honor Cord from club sponsor Leah Hollier was Jamerson Leday.

Michelle Guillory then recognized her students in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. They were Makayla Ardoin, Trinitie Batiste, Alaira Edwards, Sophie Fontenot, Dashia Frank, Loghan Frank, Keela Gallow, Saysiana Gallow, Lauren Launey, Whitney Ledoux, Macie Lee, Emily Manuel, Azeekia Thomas, and Rene Williams.
Senior members of the Student Council received their cords from Shonda Jack and former principal Kelly Guillory. Keowanee Soileau was event manager, Logan Guillory was 2nd vice president, Chrystian Serie was 1st vice president, and Kelsey Smith was president.
The two students receiving certificates for completing the work based program were Roderkus Ben and James Castille.
Customer Service and Sales Certification certificates were presented to Dantony Anderson, Vonteeko Anderson, Trinitie Batiste, Davondez Doucet, Saysiana Gallow, Tatiana Gallow, Corey Griffin, Daleisha Hall, Roland Landry, Keira Leday, Victoria Manuel, Azeekia Thomas, Adam Veillon, Christopher Weaver, and Ladaisha Wilson.
Microsoft Office Specialist certificates were then presented to Morgan Arnold, Davyon Arvie, Brittany Bradshaw, Brendan Doucet, Davondez Doucet, Jalen Edwards, Loghan Frank, Brianna Godeaux, Corey Griffen, Logan Guillory, Sarah Guillory, Dajon Hall, Ciera LaFleur, Corey Leday, Whitney Ledoux, Emily Manuel, Shelby Manuel, Victoria Manuel, Morgan McDaniel, Kelsey Smith, Keowanee Soileau, Azeekia Thomas, Gwantez Thomas, and Jakia Thomas.

Dual Enrollment is a new program where the Evangeline Parish School Board partnered with LSU-E and South Louisiana Community College to provide students the opportunity to receive between three and 21 college credits while still in high school. These students through LSU-E were Morgan Arnold, Dovondez Doucet, Jalen Edwards, Destiny Frank, Logan Guillory, Sarah Guillory, Ciera LaFleur, Shelby Manuel, Morgan McDaniel, Kowanee Soileau, Kelsey Smith, Azeekia Thomas, Peyton Vidrine, and Jada Wilson; and these students through SLCC were Trinitie Batiste, Alex Brown, Brendan Doucet, Alaira Edwards, Sophie Fontenot, Dashia Frank, Destiny Frank, Loghan Frank, Keela Gallow, Saysiana Gallow, Ciera LaFleur, Whitney Ledoux, Macie Lee, Emily Manuel, Taylor Manuel, and Azeekia Thomas.
Senior BETA Club members received there stoles from club sponsor Kelly Dunagan. These students were Jaishaun Doucet, Keela Gallow, Logan Guillory, Ciera LaFleur, Whitney Ledoux, Emily Manuel, Morgan McDaniel, Azeekia Thomas, Peyton Vidrine, and Jada Wilson.
Receiving the Outstanding Student and Hardest Worker Award was Nicholas Fontenot.
