While on criminal patrol, officers with the Mamou Police Department located a white Ford Taurus traveling north on 8th street with no tail lights and pulling a utility trailer.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered the trailer had been recently stolen from a nearby address in the 600 block of Mulberry Street. Officers then apprehended the occupants and furthered their investigation by deploying the department’s K9 Officer.
The K9 gave an alert signaling there was a scent of an illegal narcotic in the vehicle. At that time, the driver advised he had narcotics hidden in the vehicle and gave officers permission to retrieve it. Narcotics were located and identified to be a Schedule II CDS.
Officers then placed the occupants, Brian Livingston of Ohio and Jennifer Miller of Arkansas, under arrest and charged them with theft, possession of Schedule II CDS, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1000 feet of a drug free zone.
Thereafter, the owner of the trailer was notified and arrived on the scene to retrieve his property.
Chief Brent Zackery of the Mamou Police Department would like to thank his officers for their hard work and is thrilled with the performance of the department’s K-9.
