On August 15, 2020 Pine Prairie Police observed a white Nissan Maxima car with an expired temporary plate. Attempting to make a traffic stop on the vehicle for the violation, the driver failed to stop leading to a short chase to an address on 9th Street off of Heritage Road. Upon detaining the driver, Austin Brecken of 619 9th Street Ville Platte, and passenger, it was discovered that the passenger was in possession of suspected marijuana and suspected crystal methamphetamine. The passenger, Anthony J. Laborde, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Crystal Meth and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia due to a “grinder” being located next to him on the floor of the vehicle. Mr. Brecken was released with a traffic summons for the Expired Plate, Expired Drivers License and Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle. Pine Prairie Police wants to thank the Evangeline Parish Sherriff’s Office and Turkey Creek Police Department for their assistance in this matter.
