SOLA Giving Day to be held today

LAFAYETTE - The fourth annual SOLA Giving Day will be held on Thursday, May 6 beginning at midnight and ending at 11:59:59 p.m. CST. SOLA Giving Day is a 24-hour online fundraising event for 183 registered nonprofit organizations, churches, and schools who serve South Louisiana. SOLA Giving Day is hosted by Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) for any local nonprofit organization that would like to participate.
Using a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone, anyone can make a donation to support their favorite cause or organization by visiting www.solagivingday.org. Donations are easy to make and 100% tax deductible.
To date, more than $500,000 has been raised by 1,395 donations through Early Giving which will end on May 5th at 11:59:59.
Currently, matching gift donations totaling over $900,000 have been secured to support more than 100 organizations. A matching donation is a charitable contribution by private donors that will match the general public’s donations dollar for dollar. A list of the organizations who have received matching donations can be found online at www.solagivingday.org/matchinggifts.

Here locally, support through the SOLA Giving Day can be given toward Sacred Heart School Curriculum Enhancement.
Sacred Heart School Foundation has a goal to raise funds toward enhancements including:
Student
Chromebooks-
Two hundred twenty-eight student Chromebooks are needed. Chromebooks are used in the classroom for different learning programs.
ACT Training for
Faculty and Students-
This is an experimental and skill-building training for faculty and students which assists with the understanding of the content, procedures, and techniques for successful scoring on the ACT.
Math and Reading
Curriculum- This is needed for Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Sacred Heart School Foundation will match up to $20,000 dollar for dollar on all donations raised for SOLA Giving Day.
Due to COVID-19, the foundation is unable to host such a large event in the health and safety of all. The funds raised will help the annual disbursement given to Sacred Heart School towards curriculum enhancement. The objective of the Sacred Heart School Foundation Disbursement Funds is to subsidize projects that enhance, supplement, or surpass the basic curriculum of Sacred Heart School.
