In the regularly scheduled election for Ville Platte city marshal, Nicole Snoddy led all three contenders with 45% of the vote. She will now run against Horace Johnson on Saturday, December 5. Johnson was elected in the special election to fill the unexpired term of the late Ronald T. Doucet, .
“We will keep up the good fight for the next election,” said Snoddy, who received 2,938 votes. “Thank you and God bless you.”
Johnson, who finished in second place with 34% of the vote (2,220 votes) said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who voted for me as we still have one more race to go. I appreciate your consistent confidence in me to do what’s in the best interest of our constituents of Ward 1 and to move our Ward 1 forward towards excellency.
Doucet, who was appointed to the position until a special election could be held and who lost to Johnson in August’s special election runoff, received 21% of the vote (1,335 votes).
She said, “We didn’t win it, but you know what? The Lord is the head over all things, and I’m happy for the rest of them in the race now between Horace Johnson and Nicole Snoddy. Congratulations to them both.”
