Shelbi Rials crowned as Queen Cotton LXVI

Shelbi Rials, representing Christmas in the Village, was crowned Queen Cotton LXVI at the Louisiana Cotton Festival Pageant Saturday night held at the Ville Platte Civic Center. Rials’ honors include being extended an invitation into Phi Mu Sorority where she was recognized as “Sister of the Week” twice, being chosen by the Boggy Bayou Festival to be a committee member for the pageant and auction, and being recognized as one of the nominees for Employee of the Year at her job. Rials enjoys playing guitar and ukulele, playing board games, spending time with her sorority sisters and friends, eating, watching Netflix, and having fun with her family. Rials, as part of her accomplishments, was recognized as her high school class historian (ranked third), helped run a successful recruitment within her sorority, and completed the previous semester with all As and Bs. Rials’ future plans are to graduate from Northwestern State University with a degree and furthering her education to pursue a career in speech-language pathology.
