School employees to receive funds

Evangeline Parish public school employees will be getting some extra spending money just in time for the holidays thanks to excess sales tax. School board CFO Amy LaFleur stated full-time degreed employees will receive $3,718.03 and full-time support personnel will receive $1,673.11. Employees working less than one half of their contracts will receive exactly half of the above amounts for their respective positions. The money will be issued on November 20, along with regular payroll, and will be direct deposited.
Those individuals who were on any leave without pay or worker’s compensation are deemed ineligible since they were not receiving wages during that time frame. Any person who was employed by the district for the 2019-2020 year but is no longer employed will not receive the bonus, and neither will any person hired after June 20, 2020.
Superintendent Darwan Lazard said of the bonuses, “I am grateful to our Evangeline Parish School Board employees, along with the citizens and shoppers of Evangeline Parish. Members of the school board and I will continue to encourage our employees to shop locally and buy from the many wonderful businesses in this parish. This is an example of what can happen when businesses, school employees, and families work together.” He continued, “I’m very happy for our awesome employees because they deserve the amounts that are being given and so much more!”
