Pine Prairie--Wednesday, October 7, 2020, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Deputy was conducting normal routine patrol in
the area of Veteran Memorial Highway near Highway 106 when a vehicle travelling South on Veteran Memorial Highway
committed a traffic violation of Improper Lane Usage. After the observation was made, the Deputy initiated a traffic stop
immediately in the same area. The vehicle was described as a white Nissan being driven by Tyler Joseph Lasage.
During the stop the Deputy learned the driver was driving without a state issued driver’s license in his possession. A
conversation of the traffic stop between the Deputy and the driver ensued. During the conversation the driver began to
act suspicious continuously looking away from the Deputy and talking under his breath; causing the Deputy to become
concerned. Prior to release of the driver, the Deputy received verbal consent to search the vehicle. After completion of
the search the Deputy located and confiscated a ½ filled ½ gallon Ziplock bag of a green leafy vegetable like substance
believed to be Synthetic Cannabinoid aka Synthetic Marijuana/Spice, 10 prescribed Xanax tablets, and a glass pipe
containing residue of a crystal-like rock substance. All evidence was seized and placed into Evidence.
The vehicle was released to a family member of Lasage’s choice. He was then arrested, transported, and booked into
the Evangeline Parish Jail on the charges of Improper Lane Usage, Possession of Schedule I CDS (Synthetic Cannabinoid),
Possession of Schedule IV CDS (Xanax), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Glass Pipe). A bond has not been set at this
time.
