Ms. Boggy Bayou Queen Jenny Foreman, 32, will pass her title to a new queen on May 8. Before she retires her crown, Foreman wanted to share some of the highlights of her reign. “I got to visit the nursing home and attend LAFF with my board members and had lots of fun meeting new people along the way,” said Foreman. “At the LAFF pageant, I shared a room with past Boggy Bayou Festival Queen and current Cotton Festival Queen, Shelbi Rials, so I got to see all the behind the scenes pageant prep as well as the actual competition.” Foreman’s favorite event was the Running of the Tournoi. “I had never been and really didn’t know what it was all about but I’ll definitely be returning!”
Ms. Boggy Bayou is not the only title Foreman has held. She was also the Ms. Beauregard Watermelon Festival Queen, but she said representing the Boggy Bayou Festival was more personal for her. “I’ve attended this festival since I was young, I graduated from Pine Prairie High school and I’ve had many family members and family friends living in the Prairie Manor Nursing Home,” she said.
Foreman reflected on what she has learned during her reign, saying, “I really like helping people. Being part of the festival family has given me the opportunity to be more involved with the residents of the Pine Prairie community as well as the nursing home residents.”
When asked what it takes to make a good festival queen, Foreman said, “Be passionate about what you’re representing and love your people. They’ll love you right back.” Her advice for the new Ms. Boggy Bayou is: “Travel and enjoy it while you can.”
While she’s not living the glam life that comes with being a pageant queen, Foreman plays women’s tackle football for Acadiana Zydeco Spice. After she hands over her duties, she said she and her team are ready to start their football season on May 1. She added, “I’m also ready to enjoy the summer with my kids.”
Foreman is the daughter of John and Christina Foreman and the granddaughter of Carl and Johnnette Foreman, and Gail Aymond, all of St. Landry. She is a 2006 graduate of Pine Prairie High School and Pineville Beauty School.
Foreman gave thanks to those who have helped her, saying, “Shelbi and Regina, y’all always have my back and are my biggest supporters. I love y’all both! Thank you for everything! T.J., you’re okay too, I guess.”
