A proposed pipeline running from a liquefied natural gas facility in Calcasieu Parish to a point southeast of Ville Platte is in the works as Driftwood Pipeline, LLC, is investigating its development.
According to the pipeline company, which is a subsidiary of Tellurian, Inc., the proposed 96-mile line would deliver natural gas to the facility. The pipeline will consist of 74 miles of single 48-inch diameter pipeline, 11 miles of single 42-inch diameter pipeline, 11 miles of single 36-inch diameter pipelone, three and a half miles of 30-inch diameter pipeline lateral, three compressor stations, 13 interconnects, and approximately 35 billion cubic feet per day of flowing gas.
Two of the three compressor stations would be in the Basile and Mamou areas.
The announcement came on December 27, 2017. In a press release, the company stated, “Tellurian, Inc., announced that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued the notice of schedule for environmental review of Driftwood LNG, a proposed 27.36 million tonnes per annum liquefied natural gas export facility, and Driftwood Pipeline, a proposed 96-mile, four billion cubic feet a day pipeline. According to the notice, FERC will issue its final Environmental Impact Statement on October 12, 2018, and has established a 90-day Federal Authorization Decision Deadline on January 10, 2019. Assuming a favorable decision, Tellurian expects that this schedule will allow it to begin construction of Driftwood LNG in early 2019, pending a final investment decision by Tellurian.”
President and CEO Meg Gentle said, “The Tellurian Pipeline Network would serve the approximately 8 Bcf/d of incremental natural gas demand expected by 2025 in Southwest Louisiana. When completed, PGAP and HGAP will deliver natural gas from multiple low cost production basins and debottleneck the existing pipeline infrastructure in Southwest Louisiana. We intend to begin soliciting third party shipper interest in the first half of 2018, and would seek to commercialize PGAP and HGAP by year end 2018. The proposed Tellurian Pipeline Network represents approximately $7 billion of investment in infrastructure and 15,000 jobs in Texas and Louisiana.”
