Pine Prairie mayor announces ballpark is open

Pine Prairie Mayor Quint West announced village officials have opened the ballpark as of yesterday, May 20.
Even though the park is opened, the mayor added there will be some restrictions.
“Social distancing will be monitored,” he said. “Limitations and guidelines will be in place and expected to be followed. All precautions, when it comes to cleaning and disinfecting heavily traveled areas, will be taken.”
Mayor West then reported the graduation parade was a huge success.
“I, along with the council and Chief of Police L.C. Deshotel, would like to thank he Pine Prairie High Principal, Alice Lejeune, along with her staff for their hard work in pulling this task off,” he said. “I would also thank the sheriff’s department, Pine Prairie volunteer fire department, Turkey Creek police department, and the Pine Prairie maintenance department for their support.”
The mayor further reported GEO has completed its new parking lot which will greatly help with the flow of traffic on Hampton Dupre Road as well as the village also hired its first female police officer, Cheree Eckhart.
