Sitting councilwoman for the Village of Pine Prairie, Tammy Hammond, has announced her bid for re-election on the November ballot.
In her announcement, Hammond said the following, “I, Tammy Hammond, am seeking re-election for my candidacy of village council for the Village of Pine Prairie. I am the daughter of the late Mayor and Village Councilman Terrel McCauley, who served the Pine Prairie community proudly for over 25 years. I am also the daughter of Magretta Veillon McCauley. I have served on the town council for the past 17 years, and, as a lifelong resident of Pine Prairie who raised four daughters in this community, I am fully invested in making our community a better place to live, work, and raise our families. I am a graduate of McNeese State University with a degree in education, a retired certified Kindergarten teacher of 33 years, and am currently serving as Dixie Youth Softball President. My past ties to the Pine Prairie community include being a softball coach for 21 years, Dixie Youth Board Member for 20 years, EPYB coach for 18 years, Catechism teacher for three years, Pine Prairie Beta Club sponsor for three years, 4-H Club sponsor for four years, and a Girl Scout leader for four years.”
“As a village councilwoman, I have continued to move our community forward in bringing positive changes such as the building of our Village Community Center; working with Evangeline Parish Tourism to promote tourism within our community; working alongside the tourism committee to acquire a beautification grant to purchase ornamental street signs and our Village Christmas tree; assisting in updating sewer plant machinery; prompting improvements at our ballpark that include new fences, new lighting, and new canopies and installments of Dixie Youth Championship signs; purchasing new police vehicles giving raises to all police officers; and working with the village engineer to acquire CARES Act funding.”
“As a parent of four daughters and a grandparent of five, I hope to instill the same core values and social ties that I grew up having in our community. I would greatly appreciate your support in moving our community forward in a positive direction. Please join me in making our community a better place to live, thrive, and raise our families.”
