Pine Prairie Chief of Police announces bid for re-election

L.C. Deshotel has announced his re-election bid as chief of police for the Village of Pine Prairie.
In his announcement, Chief Deshotel said the following, “I am the current chief of police and have served as a chief for a total of 26 years. I am a lifelong resident of Pine Prairie and a graduate of Pine Prairie High School. I am married to Dee Deshotel and have three children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. I am a former businessman, a former councilman of Pine Prairie, a former Evangeline Parish Sheriff Deputy, and a member of Louisiana Chief of Police Association, National Chief of Police Association, and Southwestern Chiefs Association. I am educated and trained with yearly continuing education courses including police use of force, high risk warrants, traffic stops, crisis intervention, ethical decision making, school safety, and review of law education and ethics. I have hired new officers and provided pay raises, and I have helped Pine Prairie High School staff with educating our children on safety for school shootings and violence and helped protect our residents and village during the August protest.”
