The Pine Prairie Village Council, during its recent meeting on Thursday, December 13, approved ordinances to amend the budget for fiscal year 2018 and to approve the budget for fiscal year 2019.
Last fiscal year’s budget was amended to reflect $848,250.00 in total revenues by sources and $953,100.00 in total expenditures by departments in the general fund.
The proposed budget that was adopted for this coming fiscal year shows $903,250.00 in total revenues by sources and $912,900.00 in total expenditures.
To cover the shortfall in both budgets, $118,000.00 was transferred into the general fund.
Earlier in the meeting, the council heard from Village Engineer Ronald Landreneau about a new grant opportunity available through the state’s Community Block Grant program. Landreneau said the money available would only be between $2,000.00 and $8,000.00 and would go to “improving the community from a beautification point.”
The council also heard from Village Attorney Greg Vidrine about a potential cooperative endeavor agreement between the village and the Ward 4 Fire Protection District. According to Vidrine, the fire district wants to use a few acres of property for exercises and to construct a training facility for the department.
Vidrine advised, “The village would be leasing to them the property near the sewage plant for a period of 10 years at a $1 per year rate.”
The council voted to accept the cooperative endeavor agreement.
In other business, the council, voted to accept the village’s policies and procedures for audit report purposes.
