Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following:
On the 5th of January 2021 An Evangeline Parish Sheriff Deputy, conducted a traffic on a vehicle, for a traffic violation. The deputy made contact with the driver and advised of the reason for the stop. While the deputy was speaking to the driver, he could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from it. The deputy requested permission to search and it was granted. The deputy then recovered marijuana, a handgun, and drug paraphernalia.
