New Chamber/Tourism Director is introduced

Erin Hoffpauir, the newly hired executive director of the Evangeline Parish Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Commission, was introduced at the Evangeline Parish Police Jury meeting on Monday, January 6.
“I’m very excited to get started with the tourism and chamber,” Hoffpauir told the jury. “I have a lot of really big ideas for social media and to update our technology and our Website to make those really easier and more accessible to everyone.”
She continued, “I’m really excited to get started and get new people into the parish that I love so much.”
When introducing Hoffpauir to the jury, Chamber President Peter Strawitz commented, “We came up with whom we believe to be the best candidate.”
He added, “We’re very pleased to have her. We’re lucky and blessed.”
On behalf of the tourism commission, Suzy Lemoine expressed to the police jury, “I’m thrilled that Erin is with us. Part of the desire of our tourism board is to bring some young blood to our parish.”
“We had a number of outstanding candidates,” she continued. “What we liked about Erin especially was her marketing background and these new ideas like the ability to Instagram and Facebook which are very important for our parish to grow.”
In other business, the police jury:
• appointed job holders for the year 2020.
• approved a pay increase for Shanameeka Frank and Tremeka Leday.
• approved going forward with the appraisal of property in the Industrial Park next to Jeanmard’s and the National Guard.
• approved a new contract for ground maintenance at Mamou Library/Health Unit.
• voted to issue a Letter of No Objection for Port Arthur Pipeline LLC to run a pipeline through Evangeline Parish.
• and called for a public hearing on February 3 at 4:30 p.m. to discuss juror salaries.
