Mercy Regional Medical Center has announced an updated restricted visitor policy effective January 6.
For non-COVID patients:
Emergency room- no visitors allowed
inpatients- one unique visitor with the patient per day.
outpatients- one unique visitor with the patient per day.
pediatric patients- parent/guardian - one healthy parent/guardian per day.
mentally/physically handicapped patients- one healthy caregiver per patient.
critically ill patient/ end of life care- one healthy spouse/ family member.
COVID patients: no visitors allowed for known or suspected COVID positive patients except critically ill patient/ end of life care having one healthy spouse/ family member.
Contact department manager/ house supervisor for approval.
Unique visitor means the visitor cannot be changed/ rotated/ substituted and must be asymptomatic.
Visitors may or may not be able to wait in the waiting areas due to social distancing limitations. Visitors should leave contact information if waiting in vehicle.
Children are not allowed for visitation.
All healthcare personnel, patients, and visitors will be screened daily. Any approved visitors must be asymptomatic and wear a mask at all times. To conserve supplies, visitors must bring a mask from home.
The entrances have staffed screeners available to screen all visitors, patients, and employees.
The ER entrance is open 24 hours a day, and the main lobby is open between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The hospital apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause its patients, visitors, and employees, but the public’s safety is the number one priority.
