A Mamou man was arrested recently by Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Deputies for theft of scrap metal.
Santanna R. Durgan, 32, of 1016 Maple Street, Mamou, was arrested in connection with this crime, along with Quentin E. Guillory, 28, of 2015 7th Street, Lake Charles.
According to a release from Chief Deputy Christopher Ivey with the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, the arrest occurred after “deputies were alerted by an off duty Calcasieu Deputy that there were two males loading things into a truck.”
The theft occurred on “property located on Hwy. 3059, Iowa.”
Ivey stated, “When Jeff Davis patrol deputies arrived they were told by one of the individuals that he picked up scrap metal and had permission from the owner.”
However, “deputies had already contacted the land owner and he advised no one had permission to be on the property or to take anything.”
Durgan and Guillory were transported to the Jeff Davis Parish Jail and booked on the charge of theft. The two men are being held without bond.
