At the Library

Good news! The main library and all branches will move to the COVID-19 Phase 3 mandate this week which will allow our public programs like quilting, children’s story hour, teen program, etc. to start up again! We will still require the wearing of masks, practicing social distancing, and keeping the number of patrons limited while in the buildings, but we will bring the “social gathering” fun back. The operating hours at the branches remain the same and the main library will continue with reduced hours by closing at 6 p.m. Monday thru Friday (still no late Tuesday evenings) and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Unfortunately, our webpage is not operating properly so the information posted should not be relied on at this time. We are posting all updates on our Facebook page. Additionally, all virtual websites like Libby / Overdrive are available to the public if you have an internet connection.
Once again, the staff extends a sincere thank you to Mr. Gene McMillen for his most unique and generous donation of his rendition of the yacht that belonged to President John F. Kennedy. It is on display in our Genealogy room. Children and teens can view it and outside of the Teen room. We are grateful for the inspiration and proud to tout the talents of Mr. Gene.
The Library Board of Control will meet Thursday, March 11, at noon at the Ville Platte Main library. The public is invited.
