Newly ordained priest for the Diocese of Lafayette Fr. Andrew Killeen has been assigned as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church, both in Ville Platte, replacing Fr. Blake Dubroc.
Fr. Killeen was ordained by Bishop Douglas Deshotel at an ordination ceremony held at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette on Saturday, June 6. He is a native of Lafayette and of St. Pius X Parish. His assignment here in Ville Platte begins Monday, July 6.
In a statement, Fr. Killeen said, “My name is Fr. Andrew Killeen and the bishop has graciously assigned me as the new parochial vicar of Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, its mission of Sacred Heart in Belaire Cove and St. Joseph Catholic Church. I am grateful to the bishop in giving me this assignment. I also cannot wait to begin my priestly assignment. Though I plan to explain more about my background once I get there, I am a native of Lafayette and come from St. Pius X Catholic Church. I also attended Catholic school my entire life and am excited to use my many experiences before and in seminary to serve all of you. Please know that I have been praying for all of you since I was given my assignment. I hope all of us will grow closer the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus together! I am looking forward to meeting all of you. Please pray for me and my fellow classmates who are being ordained this summer.”
