“I, Nicole Latour Snoddy, so solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution and laws of the United States and the Constitution and laws of this state, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as city marshal for city court of Ville Platte according to the best of my ability and understanding. So help me, God.”
With these words, Snoddy was sworn in as the city’s first female marshal on Tuesday, December 22. As she explained, “it means the world for me to become the first lady marshal, and I hope to make everyone proud.”
She went on to say, “I hope I make every woman proud and show they can do anything they achieve. I hope the best for everybody.”
Snoddy thanked the audience consisting of family, friends, and other elected officials for attending the ceremony held in the city courtroom and said, “I really appreciate all your support, and I hope we have a great new year in 2021. I hope it all goes well for everybody.”
Snoddy won election earlier this month when she defeated challenger Horace Johnson in the runoff election by an 87 vote margin.
Johnson had previously been elected in a special election held this summer to fill the term vacated by the late Ronald T. Doucet.
