Four of the five applicants who took the fire chief test received a passing grade of at least a 75. The applicants are vying to be named Ville Platte fire chief.
The grades were approved at the Ville Platte Fire and Municipal Civil Service Board meeting held Friday, September 11.
The board did not disclose those applicants who passed, but the five applicants were Jacob Demourelle, Joel Manuel, Interim Chief Fabian Poullard, Christopher Soileau, and Hunter Soileau.
The list of applicants who passed the exam will now be sent to Mayor Jennifer Vidrine for the next step in the process. The mayor will appoint a fire chief, and that person will have to be approved by the city council.
The board then approved a roll call for the captain’s exam. Those taking the exam are Kyle Dupre and Kirk Fontenot. The list was accepted and will be sent to civil service.
In other business, the board re-elected Christopher Soileau as chairman and elected Larry Lachney as vice-chair to replace Venita Doucet.
