The two-month long undercover operation conducted on the part of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to yield arrests in connection with alleged illegal drug activity.
On Thursday, January 7, The Evangeline Parish Criminal Patrol Unit, along with the Mamou Police Department, arrested two more individuals for warrants. These warrants are from the two month long undercover drug buy operation, conducted by both agencies.
Joseph Lafleur
186 Richaume Street
Ville Platte
W/M Age 46
He was charged with distribution of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.
Once Lafleur was arrested, agents located more methamphetamine on his person which led to an additional charge.
Also, on January 7, The Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department and the Mamou Police Department located and arrested.
Mitchell Paul Guidry
1356 Reeton School Road
Mamou
W/M Age 35
He was charged with distribution of marijuana.
Guidry was also in possession of marijuana at the time of his arrest. He was cited and released for that violation.
While deputies and Mamou officers were looking for these subjects, they stopped a truck on the L’Anse Meg road at Birch Street for a traffic violation. When deputies made contact with the driver, they were advised he had active warrants. Deputies then took him into custody and located methamphetamine and ecstasy on his person.
Silas Sinclair Thomas
1806 Lou Ann Street
Mamou
B/M Age 30
He was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of ecstasy.
He also had three outstanding warrants.
Sheriff deputies and Mamou police officers also received information that another subject was in possession of narcotics. Agents went to a residence on East Street in Mamou and made contact with him. When agents were speaking to him, he admitted to being in possession of methamphetamine. Agents seized the narcotics and arrested the following.
Derek Keith Runnels
1200 Railroad Street
Mamou
W/M Age 41
He was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
He also had an outstanding warrant.
Days later on Monday, January 11, the Criminal Patrol Unit stopped a car for a traffic violation. When deputies approached the car, they saw the subjects inside smoking a cigarette laced with PCP. The passenger in the car became very combative with deputies, and the subject was taken into custody and charged as follows.
Corey Griffin

B/M Age 44
He was charged with possession of PCP, resisting an officer, and improper lane usage.
Also, on the January 11, deputies conducted a search warrant on a residence located at 410 North Latour in Ville Platte. While searching the residence, they located PCP, marijuana and a hand gun. This led to the following action.

He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute PCP, possession of alprazolam, possession of firearm in presence of CDS, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shamus Hilton Leday

B/M Age 42
He was charged with resisting an officer with force and violence (four counts) and possession of PCP.
A crime tip, two days later, led to two search warrant being executed in the Lone Pine/Blood Bend area of the parish. These warrants stemmed from surveillance and crime submitted tips. The following were arrested on charges of illegal narcotics.
Justin Wayne Messer

W/M Age 23
He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana - 44 grams, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine - 11 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of firearm in the presence of CDS.
He was also in possession of over $650.00 in U.S. currency from drug sales.
Tyler Dane Sparks
1598 Blood Bend Road
St.Landry
W/M Age 31
He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of firearm in the presence of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of CDS in presence of minor.
Sparks was in possession of over three pounds of high-grade marijuana along with over one hundred vape vials of THC oil. He was also in possession of $2,500.00 in U S currency from illegal drug sales.
