Edwards and Ardoin are reelected

In a neck-and-neck runoff election, Governor John Bel Edwards nudged out challenger Eddie Rispone to win reelection.
With 99 percent of the precincts reporting statewide, Governor Edwards amassed 773,094 votes, which was 51 percent; while Rispone received 733,151 votes, which was 49 percent.
Although, here in Evangeline Parish, Rispone received most of the votes. The Republican challenger received 7,513 votes (61.25 percent) to Governor Edwards’ 4,753 votes (38.75 percent).
Meanwhile, Kyle Ardoin was reelected as Louisiana Secretary of State by receiving 866,260 votes statewide (59 percent) over challenger “Gwen” Collins-Greenup’s 600,023 votes statewide (41 percent).
Ardoin, in Evangeline Parish, amassed 8,430 votes (71.67 percent), while Collins-Greenup received 3,333 votes (28.33 percent).
