Early voting ends with over 3,000 votes

Early voting for the Saturday, October 12, Gubernatorial Primary Election ended across the state on Saturday, October 5 with 3,065 votes being cast at the Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters office.
Mail-in ballots are still being accepted. As of the close of business on Tuesday, 200 mail-in ballots had been received bringing the total number of early votes and mail-in ballots to 3,265.
The following is a breakdown of early votes and mail-in ballots by ward here in Evangeline Parish:
Ward 1- 2,172
Ward 2- 75
Ward 3- 543
Ward 4- 251
Ward 5- 224
On the ballot for the election are the following races: Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry, Commissioner of Insurance, BESE District 5, BESE District 8, State Senator District 28, State Representative District 38, Sheriff, Assessor, Police Juror District 1, Police Juror District 3, Police Juror District 4, Police Juror District 5, Police Juror District 6, Police Juror District 7, and Police Juror District 8.
After the polls close Saturday, unofficial results will be posted to the Ville Platte Gazette’s website www.evangelinetoday.com and to its Facebook page as soon as the returns are posted to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website.
The runoff is set for November 16
