Early voting ends with over 2,000 residents casting votes

Early voting ended on Tuesday, October 30, for the November 6th parishwide and statewide elections.
At the end of the early voting, a total of 2,060 early votes were cast in person at the Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters Office, located in the parish courthouse.
A break down of how many people have voted early in each ward is as follows: Ward 1 (Ville Platte, Chataignier), 1,469; Ward 2 (Basile), 40; Ward 3 (Mamou), 340; Ward 4 (Pine Prairie, Beaver), 120; and Ward 5 (Turkey Creek, Bayou Chicot) 117.
Elections taking place consist of mayor, aldermen and chief of police in Ville Platte, Mamou, Chataignier and Basile, as well as school board member in Districts 1, 2 and 3. The state-wide race on the ballot is for Louisiana Secretary of State. There are also seven amendments voters will decide on during this election.
Regular voting will take place at the 56 precincts across Evangeline Parish on Tuesday, November 6, and the runoff election will be held Saturday, December 8.
