Domestic disturbance leads to arrest in Mamou

On September 23,2019, the Mamou Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in the 500 block of 3rd Street. Officers were attempting to remove Floyd Lewis from the residence who was refusing to leave. Officers further investigated the domestic complaint and discovered that Lewis had assaulted his pregnant ex girlfriend with a handgun. While she was attempting to leave from the residence, Lewis fired a single shot from a 9mm handgun that was later located by officers in the area where Lewis was at. Along with the handgun was the victims purse that Lewis had taken to try and keep the victim from leaving. Lewis was booked into the Mamou Jail for remaining after being forbidden, aggravated assault with a firearm,illegal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm, and domestic abuse. Lewis has no bond as of this time.
