When early voting drew to a close on Saturday, July 4, it was determined a total of 1,380 voters cast their ballot. Items on the ballot included Presidential Preference Primary, Ville Platte Ward 1 City Marshal, Democratic State Central Committee Member 41st Representative District, and two millage renewals.
Those voters who did not vote early will head to the polls this coming Saturday. According to Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court Randy Deshotel, who is in charge of elections, voters at the polls will be encouraged to be socially distant and to wear masks. Masks and other personal protection equipment (PPE) will be required for the commissioners working at each precinct.
Because of press deadlines, the election results will be in the Thursday, July 16, edition of the Ville Platte Gazette, however, election numbers will be posted on the Gazette Website and Facebook page as they become available on the secretary of state Website.
