State Senator Heather Cloud announced, on Friday, the East Landing of Chicot Park will reopen Saturday, May 16, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
“I’ve been working with the director of GOHSEP to reduce their footprint at our State Park,” Senator Cloud said.
“I’ve expressed that in Senate District 28, Bayou Chicot State Park is one of our few major points of tourism. While Shreveport and New Orleans have parks that are being utilized for COVID purposes, they do have many other major points of tourism. However, that is not the case for us. Therefore we should not be hindered and crippled with a continued full closure. It is g ood news today for fishermen, and I am hopeful that before long we will see more portions of the park re-opened.”
