Rocky Brent Rider announced his candidacy for re-election to the Evangeline Parish Police Jury’s District One seat. His announcement is as follows:
“I, Rocky Rider, wish to formally announce my candidacy for re-election for police juror, District One, in the upcoming October primary election.
“I am married to Beth Roy Rider and am the proud father of Rocky Brent Rider II. My parents are the late Harry Rider and Nelwin Fontenot Rider. Through the encouragement of friends and family members, I have decided to embark on a five month campaign for re-election in District One. After being supported by so many people and discussing the matter with Beth, I have made the decision to ask the voters of District One to support my candidacy. If the good, hard-working, tax paying people of District One want honesty and integrity I am their candidate. If you want a police juror who will be readily accessible to share their concerns and to have them remedied quickly, I am their candidate.
“District One encompasses a large area, mainly residents along the Belaire Cove community, the Demoncherveaux Subdivision, Chataignier, L’Anse Aux Pailles, the Lithcote Road area, Highway 167 to the parish line, an area from the Pig Stand to Hickory Street, the L’Anse Meg area, and the Point Blue area. As you can see, I have a large area to cover. Nonetheless, it is my hope that we will cross paths in the upcoming months because I want to hear your concerns about how we can better serve the people of District One.
“The election is about five months away, which gives me and my supporters ample time to get our message out. That message is honesty and integrity. On October 12, I earnestly ask each and every voter in District One for their vote. I am an active supporter of the Belaire Cove, Chataignier, Ville Platte, and W.C. Read fire departments. I have also been a supporter of the Belaire Cove Chapel, the Ville Platte Lions Club, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Savoy Cancer Center in Mamou, Le Grand Hoorah at Chicot State Park, Louisiana Smoked Meat Festival in Ville Platte, and Tournoi De La Ville Platte. Above all, I am a good listener and problem solver to those who value my experience and knowledge. I am also the owner of Rocky Rider’s Collision Center and the current vice president of the Evangeline Parish Police Jury.
“If re-elected, a few of my pledges to all citizens of District One are:
*Ensuring every taxpayer’s dollars are working as hard for them as they had to work for it.
*Maintaining bridges, drainage, grass cutting, roads, and road signs.
*Educating the citizens about the responsibilities of the their police juror and rights as taxpayers.
*Informing taxpayers of daily events.
“Please help me to help you, the citizens, by voting Rocky Rider for police juror District One; a true friend.”
