Incumbent Evangeline Parish Police Juror from District 6 Eric Soileau has announced his bid for re-election on October 12.
“I, Eric B. Soileau, am humbly announcing my candidacy for re-election for District 6 Police Juror,” Soileau said in his announcement.
Soileau’s announcement continued as follows: “I am the son of Joe Soileau and Diana Pierrotti and am a graduate of Vidrine High School. I was raised in Reddell and still reside here today. I have been married for 40 years to Cathy Deshotel, the daughter of Joe and the late Tarrel Deshotel. We were owners of the Corner Store in Vidrine for 13 years. I am now employed at T-Boy’s Slaughter House & Meat Market. We have two wonderful daughters: Tasha, married to Joshua Perrodin, and Catrina, married to Cody Sanchez. We have four beautiful grandchildren.”
“It has been an honor serving you these last 14 years, maintaining the largest road district in Evangeline Parish with approximately 140 miles of parish roads including 200 plus miles of drainage. Several accomplishments of which I am proud include: the purchasing of new equipment to better maintain the District, projects for digging and dredging of big and small drainages, replacement of many bridges and cross flumes, replacing rock with limestone which has greatly improved roads, but we still have more to do. We also implemented a spraying program of road side vegetation and canals. I understand the stretching of every tax dollar and also know about the hard work it takes to accomplish that.”
“I also helped secure millions of dollars in grants and bonds for economic development, sewer improvements, bridge and road improvements, recreational funding, hazard mitigation, water enrichment, and a new generator for the Vidrine Fire Station.”
“I have partnered with DOTD, water districts, and drainage boards, fire departments, state and federal legislators to accomplish our projects. Through my years of experience I have established a close bond and working relationship with these public officials and agencies. I am also working with the state, the Acadiana Planning Commission, and the Mermentau Water Shed initiative to help drainage to flow south better for all parishes involved.”
“I am very active on the local, state and federal levels. I served as president for three years on the Police Jury. I serve on the library board, and am a member of the Mamou Cajun Music Festival Board. I also served as president of the La. Police Jury Association from February 2018 to Feb. 2019 and serve on the Agriculture and Rural affairs steering committee and the Rural Action Caucus steering committee for the National Association of Counties.”
“It would be an honor to be allowed to continue to serve you. Please help re-elect me as your District 6 Police Juror on October 12, 2019. God bless you and thank you for your vote and support.”
