Butler, Cloud to represent their respective districts in Baton Rouge

With 60 percent of the total vote across Evangeline and St Landry Parishes, Rhonda Butler emerged as the winner in the election for State Representative from District 38, according to unofficial results.
Butler received 8,880 votes to defeat challengers Phil Lemoine and Taranza Arvie.
Lemoine received 3,920 votes for 27 percent, while Arvie received 1,965 votes for 13 percent.
Here in Evangeline Parish, the vote totals were as follows:
• Rhonda Butler 6,115 votes 60 percent
• Phil Lemoine 2,582 votes 25 percent
• Taranza Arvie 1,559 votes 15 percent
In the State Senator race in District 28, Heather Cloud emerged as the winner over her two challengers.
Cloud, overall in Evangeline, Allen, and Avoyelles Parishes, received 22,193 votes for 63 percent of the vote. Johnson came out in second place with 24 percent of the vote with 8,329 votes, and LeBas finished with 13 percent of the vote with his 4,629 votes.
Here in Evangeline Parish, the results were as follows:
Heather Cloud 6,822 votes 61 percent
Bernard LeBas 3,118 votes 28 percent
Robert Johnson 1,153 votes 10 percent.
