Just like the famed snowman who returns in winter, Frosty’s Inn burger stand has returned. They were put out of commission for seven weeks when a driver ran their vehicle through the building. Owner Brian Guillory said the community has been supportive since they reopened.
Guillory said they have customers from all over, even Bunkie and Lafayette. Their loyal customers were happy to see their favorite burger joint reopened. Next month it will be Frosty’s 60th anniversary. Brian inherited the business from his father, Herman Guillory. “When Daddy turned 62 I took over. I’ve been running it approximately 30 years.”
Ville Platte’s teenagers were fond of the burger joint back in the 1960s, and their enjoyment was passed down to their children and grandchildren. “A lot of people are second and third generation customers. Their parents brought them when they were young, and they’re bringing their kids over here,” said Guillory. He said they’re known for their ice cream and burgers, but they’ve had served plate lunches for twenty years.
With the renovation since the accident, Guillory said he wanted to keep the building close to what it looked like before because “This is an old dinosaur. This doesn’t exist anymore, these kinds of places.” While the building will maintain its original design for the most part, they will add a drive-through pickup window for those who order in advance.
Guillory thanked the community for all the support and all the years of loyal business. He, his family, and staff look forward to many more years of cooking good food and preserving a little piece of history.
