3-Year Old Boy Found Wandering Norwood Drive Alone Father Issued A Summons

Sheriff Eddie Soileau, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office has released the following:

Ville Platte, La- Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Authorities say they have issued a summons to the father (Marcus Andrus) of the 3- year old boy who was found wandering a street in the Wyble Subdivision early Wednesday morning alone.

Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers were made aware of the child walking alone at approximately 8:07 am on the 300 block of Norwood Drive. A concerned citizen observed the juvenile in the roadway and immediately contacted Law Enforcement. Within minutes Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived and took custody of the child. Deputies quickly learned of a 2nd child approximately 2 years of age alone at the residence without any supervision present.
Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers contacted the Department of Children and Family Services to assist. During this time Marcus Andrus arrived home and was escorted to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office to meet with an agent from DCFS. After speaking with DCFS he was allowed to regain custody of his children. Andrus was also issued a summons for Improper Supervision of a Minor due to the act that he admitted to leaving the children home alone asleep while he went to a nearby Dollar General Store. No further actions were taken.
