Threat is investigated at PPHS

On September 15, 2022 Pine Prairie Police received information of a threat made towards the Pine Prairie High School. In conjunction with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, an investigation is being conducted and precautions are being taken to ensure the safety and security of the campus. We are working closely with the Evangeline Parish School Board to make sure the campus is secure and safe for students and faculty. This is an active investigation and more information will be provided when available. Again, the Pine Prairie Police Department and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this matter. There will be officers and deputies on campus until this matter is resolved. Assistance from the surrounding agencies is being given to have extra officers on campus. Chief L.C. Deshotel wants the public to know these types of threats will not be taken lightly and will be handled accordingly. The safety of the school is top priority for his department.
