Many people are reluctant to change, especially those who have a few years behind them. I don’t particularly like change either. It’s like wandering into unfamiliar territory. You never know what is around the next corner. But, without change, there is no growth, and the Bible anticipates and expects growth in our lives. We read in 2 Peter 3:18, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever.”
In God’s sight, we are in the process of becoming. Now, what does that mean? God wants us to live on the growing edge of life: to learn more about the Father, to be more like the Son, to be empowered by the Holy Spirit and accomplish new and wonderful things for God’s glory. We can’t do that if we are stagnant, not growing and unwilling to change.
So, let me ask you, are you stretching, reaching and growing? Are you open to change? Don’t resist change because it is difficult and painful. Listen, it is easier to admire an outstanding Christian than to become one ourselves, but then we do not meet the Lord’s expectations. God wants us to undergo continuous transformation, which will require change. We must be willing to open ourselves to whatever changes God wants to make in us.
