For the kids who visit the Ville Platte Main library during the month of August, we still have a few surprises! While supplies last, kids will be able to Adopt-A-Play Pet when they check out 10 books (one pet per kid)! Please share this good news.
Regular weekly programs continue at the main library and all branches, but there are too many to list here. Please visit the Facebook page of the library you use to find out what’s going on!
We are promoting a new challenge for middle and high school students on behalf of Congressman Mike Johnson! The Congressional App Challenge is a public effort to encourage students to learn how to code through annual districtwide competitions hosted by Members of Congress for their district. You can register at CongressionalAppChallenge.us. The Challenge will run until November 1, 2022. Do you want to create a game? Do you want to create an app to solve a problem? There is no limit to what you can create for the Congressional App Challenge. Drop by the main library or any branch to pick up a flyer or visit the main library Facebook page for details.
New: The main library and all branches will begin accepting payments for fines, copies, faxes and other library related services using a credit or debit card for a minimum payment of $1.00. A service fee of $.50 per transaction will be applied.
Early Notice: Library Fest is scheduled for Saturday, November 19 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. This is a free outdoor event for our patrons to meet new authors and vendors; sample new food truck dishes; and to buy Friends of the Library books! Authors and vendors can begin emailing Suzy Lemoine: slemoine@evangelinelibrary.org or Keisha Ford @ lford@evangelinelibrary.org to sign up or to get more information.
You can always call the main library @ 337-363-1369 or email evangeline_parish@yahoo.com for more information or too. Visit our main library and branch library Facebook pages or www.evangelinelibrary.org for all of the weekly, monthly and upcoming events and never forget that libraries do change lives.... even in the cloud!
