Thank you for supporting your library around the parish!
Here’s a bit of early good news to share from one of our biggest supporters, the Friends of the Library. They have hired a cool, unique petting zoo that will be included in our Summer Reading program plans. The Honey Do Ranch Petting Zoo from Church Point will be at each branch the last week of June. Keep an eye out for the Summer Reading calendar that will be available in May.
The main library and four branches (Turkey Creek is working on it) have their own Facebook page, so, because we have a variety of events unique to each branch planned, viewing their pages is the best way to see all of the wonderful programs being offered! Here are a few regular programs that are free to the public- Ville Platte Main: Mystery Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m., and the Quilting Group meets on Thursdays at 1 p.m.; the Basile Branch offers a “French Coffee Talk” every other Tuesday at 9 a.m.; the Mamou Branch hosts a Coffee and Conversation every Monday and Friday at 8 a.m.; the Pine Prairie Branch offers free Bingo every Thursday at 9 a.m.
Now, for the Easter season, the main library has a unique Easter backdrop ready for family and kid selfies, and the Teen Books and Beyond club members can enter an Easter Painting event on April 7 from 4 – 5 p.m. They can also enter a drawing that will end on April 11 to win a special “filled-up Easter basket,” and the Easter Bunny will be there too! The Basile Branch library is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on April 7 at 10 a.m.; the Chataignier Branch library is offering an Easter Craft event on April 13 @ 1:30 p.m. The Mamou Branch is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids on Thursday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m. Pine Prairie Branch will have the Easter Bunny on hand for photos on April 11 at 3:30 p.m. Turkey Creek Branch is offering a contest for kids to enter a drawing on April 14 for a special Easter.
New at the Pine Prairie Branch beginning April 8 at 9:30 a.m. is a free Cajun French Course on Fridays. It will run for three months and will cover conversational skills, basic grammar, pronunciation, and cultural information
Holiday closure notice- the main library and all branches will be closed on April 15 and 16 for the Easter Holidays.
