Oh happy, happy, joy, joy the holidays are here! Please share the following pre-Christmas programs around the parish for the families:
The Basile Branch library is offering a Christmas French Table on Tuesday, December 21, at 10 a.m.
Chataignier Branch library will host an Ornament Craft on Tuesday, December 21, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Pine Prairie Branch will have Santa and Mrs. Claus in the library on Tuesday, December 21, at 2 p.m. Parents are welcomed to take cell phone pictures! And, on Wednesday, December 22, they will offer the kids a Christmas Craft program at 2 p.m.
Ville Platte Main will have Santa in the library on Monday, December 20, after 9 a.m. Parents are welcomed to take cell phone pictures with our lovely Christmas background and also with Mickey Mouse any day that we are opened!
Early notice: Christmas closure dates for the Main library and all branches: Thursday, December 23 through Monday, December 27 and also on Friday, December 31, Saturday, January, 1 and Monday, January 3, 2022.
December continues as a fine free month for the main library and all branches around the parish. Return any item in good condition and have all fines on the item waived. We will also take 50% off existing fines and charges for lost/damaged items if the balance is paid in full in one lump sum payment during this period. (Conditions may apply with special accounts.) This year there is an added incentive for patrons who have old fines on their accounts: we will waive up to $10 with the donation of a child’s gift. (One gift per account). Also new this December at the main library in Ville Platte a new incentive for young readers to continue reading through the holidays is planned!
Our annual Toys for Tots collection program is in full swing at the main library and all branches where new, unwrapped kids gifts can be dropped off until Monday, December 20, then they will be brought to the Mamou Police Department for distribution to needy families.
Here’s another good reason to drop by the Main library in Ville Platte - through December 20 a child can pick one present from under our Library Christmas Tree when they check out five books. (Note: only one present per child and the child must be present. This incentive will continue as long as supplies last.)
Take advantage of the Friends of the Library in Ville Platte Christmas Special for donated and withdrawn books - take home a whole bag for only $1.00!
