At the Library

December is a fine free month for the main library and all branches around the parish. Return any item in good condition and have all fines on the item waived. We will also take 50% off existing fines and charges for lost/damaged items if the balance is paid in full in one lump sum payment during this period. (Conditions may apply with special accounts). This year there is an added incentive for patrons who have old fines on their accounts: we will waive up to $10 with the donation of a child’s gift. (One gift per account). Also new this December at the main library in Ville Platte a new incentive for young readers to continue reading through the holidays is planned!
The Library Board of Control will meet on Thursday, December 9, at noon at the main library in Ville Platte. The public is invited to attend.
Our annual Toys for Tots collection program is in full swing at the main library and all branches where new, unwrapped kids’ gifts can be dropped off. On December 20, they will be brought to the Mamou Police Department for distribution to needy families.
Here’s another good reason to drop by the Main library in Ville Platte - beginning December 6 through December 20, a child can pick one present from under our Library Christmas Tree when they check out five books. (Note: only one present per child and the child must be present. This incentive will continue as long as supplies last.)
Take advantage of the Friends of the Library in Ville Platte Christmas Special for donated and withdrawn books - take home a whole bag for only $1.00!!
The Basile branch library is offering a French Table every other Tuesday at 9 a.m. The last December date is December 14. Additionally, its last story hour is Thursday, December 16, at 10 a.m. and will include SANTA!
Special note for all patrons at main and all branch libraries: we now offer electronic device charging stations for your cell phone, IPad, and Kindle Fire. We call it our “sit, read, and charge station”! Check it out sometime.
