The display which houses the pictures and maps is approximately 6 feet tall and 10 feet wide.

    The Evangeline Parish Library Board of Control and staff from around the parish wish all of our patrons a memorable, safe, and fun Easter Celebration!
    We have a traveling exhibit that is worthy of a drop in visit at the main library in Ville Platte! The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has provided a traveling exhibit designed to educate and inspire the public to protect red-cockaded woodpeckers, whooping cranes and black bears. It includes a mounted black bear for folks to have an up close and personal experience and to get a real sense of authenticity! We are hosting this exhibit through the month of April. Please share this good news.
    The programs scheduled for this week at the main library in Ville Platte are: on Monday, Chair Exercise will be at 10:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room and another at 3:30 p.m. in the meeting room; on Tuesday, Chair Exercise will be at 10:30 a.m., and our usual French Table will be at 1 p.m. and Coffee Talk with a grief counselor provided by La Hospice and Palliative Care at 2 p.m.; on Wednesday, Line Dancing will be at 10:30 a.m., and our Hooks and Needles Crochet Class will be at 1 p.m.; and, on Thursday, Quilting will be at 1 p.m., and Chair Exercise will be 3:30 p.m. in the meeting room.     The Evangeline and Historical Society will meet on Saturday, April 26, at 9:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the main library. The guest speaker is author Michael Wynne, who will be speaking on the topic of “The Sandbar Duel of 1827.”
    Here is a reminder that Tuesday, April 22, is Earth Day. Drop by the library and check out two seed packs of your choice with your library card to keep our Earth green and vibrant.
    Saturday is our author book signing day! At 9 a.m., at the main library, in Ville Platte, we are hosting a book signing with author Berchman Richard. Mr. Richard was born into a Cajun family whose ancestors were passengers on the first boat of Acadians who arrived in Louisiana in 1785. He is a military pilot, businessman, entrepreneur, media executive, and producer of a TV series, and he has authored a number of books. He will be sharing his story about these two books: Adrenaline Junkie-The Adventures of a Cajun Test Pilot and Death on the Atchafalaya. Please share this good news!
