The Ville Platte Gazette will publish announcements for candidates in the March 26 special election for Judge, Court of Appeal 3rd Circuit, 3rd District, Elec. Sec. 1C and November 8 primary election at no charge when accompanied by payment for advertising.
A candidate’s commitment to run $250 of advertising must be paid in advance before an announcement is published; however, the advertising can run at any time during the campaign.  
The announcements are biographical only and are limited to 400 words. They will contain no campaign promises, pledges, or references to other candidates. That material should be included in paid political advertising.
The announcements are used on a first-come basis and publication date depends on space available.
A photo of the candidate is used if provided.
Email delivery of the statement and photo is preferred. Include a phone number. Statements and jpg photos should be e-mailed to editor@evangelinetoday.com.
Qualifying for the March election will begin on Wednesday, January 26 and will run until Friday, January 28. The deadline to register to vote in person or by mail is Wednesday, February 23. The deadline to register to vote through the GeauxVote online registration system is Saturday, March 5. Early voting will begin on Saturday, March 12, and conclude on Saturday March 19, excluding Sunday, March 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, March 22, by 4:30 p.m. The deadline for a registrar of voters to receive a voted absentee ballot is Friday, March 25, by 4:30 p.m. On election day, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Also on the March ballot will be millage rededication propositions for the Evangeline Parish Libary and Evangeline Parish Health Unit.
