Crime and abuse prevention walk set for April 22 in Mamou

CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline, Inc. and the St. Landry-Evangeline Sexual Assault Center (SLESAC) are proud to announce their partnership for the Ninth Annual Crime and Abuse Prevention Walk honoring National Crime Victims’ Rights Week April 23-29. The walk will take place on Saturday, April 22, in the Town of Mamou. The walk address is 423 Sixth Street (The Cabon) in Mamou. Registration and lineup will begin at 9 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10 a.m.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of St. Landry-Evangeline Inc. works to secure safe and permanent homes for abused and neglected children in foster care, works to make sure a child in foster care has few placements and works to make sure a child in foster care doesn’t have to re-enter the foster care system.
SLESAC works to alleviate the suffering of sexual assault victims and prevent sexual violence, working to empower the survivors by encouraging them to make their own choices about reporting, prosecution, pregnancy, future safety and other issues raised by the experience.
This is a free family event. Registration will be held on-site the day of the event.
