At the November 9 meeting of the Evangeline Parish District II board, the Acosta Foundation presented the first donation from the Rodney J. Acosta, Sr. Memorial fund. Acosta Foundation founder Connie Lamke said $1,949,22 was spent to obtain 126 smoke-and-fire alarms. Each smoke detector has a 10 year battery.
