Qualifying period for elections begins Wednesday

According to Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court, Randy Deshotel, qualifying dates for the upcoming Fall election on November 8 will be Wednesday, July 20, Thursday, July 21, and Friday, July 22. Qualifying will be held at the Clerk of Court’s office in the Evangeline Parish Courthouse from the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each of the qualifying days.
Qualifying fees are as follows:
District Judge;
Division A:
Independents or No Party: $300.00
Democrats $450.00
Republicans $450.00
School Board; All Districts:
Independents or No Party: $115.00
Democrats: $172.50
Republicans: $172.50
Police Juror; District 4
Independents or No Party: $115.00
Democrats: $172.50
Republicans: $172.50
Basile:
Mayor, Chief of Police, Alderman
Independents or No Party: $40.00
Democrats: $60.00
Republicans: $60.00
Mamou:
Mayor, Chief of Police, Alderman
Independents or No Party: $40.00
Democrats: $60.00
Republicans: $60.00
Chataignier:
Mayor, Chief of Police, Alderman
Independents or No Party: $40.00

Only cash or money orders or cashier’s checks will be accepted as payment for qualifying fees. If it is a money order or cashier’s check, it must be made payable to the Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court.
Please come in with a valid state I.D., Voter’s Registration card, and your qualifying fee.
