La. Cotton Festival hosts cook-off

The Louisiana Cotton Festival Association has planned a new event that it hopes the public will be excited about as well. “We will hold our First-Annual Black Pot Cook-off, so enter today and show off your skills,” the Association said.
The cook-off will be held on Saturday, October 15, at the Northside Civic Center, and the cost is $75 for a 12X12 booth. Early bird special for the month of September is $50. Deadline to register is Monday, October 10. There will be three categories- amateur, professional, and club/organization. To register, contact cottonfestcookoff@yahoo.com.
In addition to the cook-off, several traditional events will be on the schedule including entertainment on Friday night at the annual “Fais-Do-Do” starting at 6 p.m. with DJ Mashall kicking off the night, then ShotGun Lilly will be the head-line entertainment and will take the stage at 9 p.m. There will be other favorites as well such as the Contradanse, 4-H Cotton Pickin’ Pet Show and Cookery Contest, Grand Parade of Cotton, the crowning of the 2023 Queen Cotton, and the Harvest Mass, on Sunday, October 16, at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady, Queen of All Saints Catholic Church.
