Staff Report
The Louisiana Cotton Festival would like to invite politicians to support the festival by being a sponsor of the event and by taking part in the Grand Parade of Cotton on Sunday, October 16.
Space for politicians to rent at the festival gate will be available to display political campaign signs or banners. Requests will be taken on a first come-first served basis. Space will also be available around the dance floor. Rental fee will help the festival thrive and become bigger and better every year.
As for the parade, lineup will begin at 10:30 a.m. The parade committee is presently making plans to ensure that this year’s parade is bigger and better every year.
Floats will be parked along Main Street between Dupre and Thompson St. Marching bands, dance groups, and walking units will assemble in the parking lot at Mikey’s Donuts (104 N. Dupre St). No vehicles will be allowed on the lot. Cars and authorized motorcycles will assemble in the parking lot at Investar Bank (841 W. Main St). Trucks with trailers will be lining up along S. Dupre St. This is the back of the Old Hospital vacant lot, which is now the new library. Tournoi riders will assemble on the road at the corner of S. Thompson St and W.
