The board members of Prairie Heritage Inc., which produces “Le Grand Hoorah” Cultural Celebration, wish to announce the return of its much-celebrated music and cultural event on September 24-25.
This year’s event is being presented in conjunction with the owners of Lake View Park and Beach located at 1717 Veteran’s Memorial Highway off of La. Highway 13 in southern Evangeline Parish.
Le Grand Hoorah, with its return, will continue its mission of preserving and promoting the cultural richness that makes our Cajun and Creole way of life so unique. Its return has been the topic of great discussion and is long awaited by the public who can expect the best production yet.
The current schedule of events is as follows:
Saturday, September 24:
•Boucherie by Pa Ta Sa Cooking Krewe at the outdoor patio beginning at 8 a.m.
•Recorded music by Geoff Thistlethwaite at the warehouse stage from 8:30-10:30 a.m.
•Opening ceremonies led by PHI President Gilbert “Winky” Aucoin and Father Jason Vidrine, featuring the pledge and a song by French Immersion students at the warehouse stage from 10:30-11 a.m.
•Music jam featuring Dave Johnson and the Camp Jammers at the warehouse stage from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
•Aucoin Family Band at the warehouse stage from 12:45-2:15 p.m.
•Geno Delafosse and French Rockin’ Boogie at the warehouse stage from 2:30-4 p.m.
•Burke Riley Cajun Quintet at the warehouse stage from 4:15-5:45 p.m.
•Pine Leaf Boys at the barn from 6-7:30 p.m.
•Balfa Toujours at the barn from 7:45-9:15 p.m.
•Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys at the barn from 9:30-11 p.m.
Sunday, September 25:
•French Catholic Mass led by Father Kennan Brown at the barn at 9 a.m.
Join us September 24 and 25, for the celebration at Lakeview Park and Beach bordering St. Landry Parish, a place well-known for always supporting Louisiana’s unique culture. Allons Hoorah!
